John’s Roast Pork, a popular South Philadelphia restaurant known for its roast pork sandwiches, was the victim of an attempted break-in over the weekend. The family-owned restaurant has been serving the South Philly community for over 30 years, but unfortunately they found their establishment targeted by a vandal while away on a brief vacation. In this article we talk about Vandal Strikes John’s Roast Pork in South Philadelphia While Owner’s Away.

Vandalism Discovered

According to 6ABC, on Sunday morning, just six hours after closing up shop to enjoy a short trip to the Jersey shore, the Bucci family received an alert that the front window of their Snyder Avenue restaurant had been smashed. Surveillance footage revealed a masked man carrying a large bag, using an unknown object to shatter the glass in an apparent attempt to gain entry into the restaurant.

“Six hours we were on vacation. Six whole hours and this happened,” said a distressed John Bucci Jr., the third-generation owner of this local staple. While the vandal was unsuccessful in his break-in, he left behind a pile of glass and a business temporarily closed.

Police Assistance

In a touching display of compassion, two Philadelphia police officers went above and beyond their duties, offering to board up the broken window for the Bucci family. According to John Bucci Jr., Officers Cook and Bond worked alongside two of Bucci’s friends to cover the damage, allowing the family to continue their vacation without having to immediately return.

Community Support

The kind act brought immense relief in what could have been a nightmare for the small business owners. “They went way above and beyond the call of duty,” remarked a grateful Bucci. While the investigation into the attempted burglary continues, the efforts of the two officers has surely reminded the community that even in disheartening situations, goodness persists.

After over 30 years of serving famously tender roast pork sandwiches, John’s Roast Pork has clearly made its delicious mark on South Philly’s culinary scene. Here’s hoping this one act of vandalism does little to slow down this family-run gem. When they re-open their shutters, they’ll no doubt be welcomed back by loyal regulars ready to enjoy some comfort food. I sincerely hope you find this “Vandal Strikes John’s Roast Pork in South Philadelphia While Owner’s Away-Find Out Details” article helpful.
