]]> In a shocking act of violence, a 43-year-old man named Leandro Barberena has been accused of stabbing his wife Alma Barberena 58 and his 75-year-old mother-in-law Angela Trejo to death inside their Northeast Philadelphia home on May 21st. The Devastating Attack

According to investigators, Alma Barberena had visited her parents’ residence on the 6000 block of Bingham Street to assist them with a telemedical appointment that morning. Between 11am and noon, her husband Leandro arrived and allegedly stabbed both Alma and Angela Trejo multiple times.

Calling 911 Under False Pretenses

According to NBC Philadelphia, after the brutal killings, Leandro Barberena called 911 claiming he had found his wife and mother-in-law unresponsive in the home. When police arrived around 1:30pm, they discovered the two victims suffering from fatal stab wounds in the basement.

Disturbing Evidence Leads to Arrest

Officials said Leandro had cuts on his hands which he attributed to moving tiles, but police also found bloody gloves – one at the crime scene and another in his vehicle after obtaining a search warrant. The damning evidence led to Leandro’s arrest on charges of murder, evidence tampering, and obstruction.
