In a disturbing incident on Sunday morning, an off-duty Philadelphia police officer was assaulted and robbed of their personal firearm by multiple suspects. The attack occurred around 7:15 AM on the 2100 block of West Oxford Street in the North Philadelphia neighborhood. After a confrontation, the officer managed to disarm the primary suspect but was then struck by the suspect’s vehicle as he fled the scene in a black BMW. The suspect was eventually apprehended hours later in the Kensington neighborhood along with several other individuals believed to have been involved. The Off-Duty Officer Assaulted and Robbed

According to the reports from the Philadelphia Police Department, the off-duty officer was assaulted by a male suspect who managed to steal their personal firearm during the attack. It is unclear what led up to this confrontation and assault. The officer showing tremendous bravery and composure was able to disarm the suspect after the initial robbery despite being off-duty and without backup.

Tragically as the primary suspect attempted to flee in his black BMW vehicle he struck the off-duty officer with the car. The extent of the officer injuries is currently unknown. The suspect then evaded police for several hours before finally being arrested in Kensington. The off-duty officer personal firearm is still missing at this time.

Suspect Arrested Additional Persons of Interest Sought

After an intensive search police successfully located and arrested the primary male suspect believed to be responsible for assaulting and robbing the off-duty officer. The suspect name has not yet been released.

Investigator are also searching for several additional persons of interest who may have valuable information on the case. Specifically, they wish to identify and interview several women who reportedly interfered with the officer as he tried to subdue and arrest the primary suspect. Police also want to locate multiple other men seen in the area who may be able to provide witness statements.

Information given to this line can remain anonymous. With community assistance, police hope to identify all participants, locate the stolen firearm, and take these dangerous assailants off the streets.
